Anna’s Hope been chosen by Global Radio  as one of the charities to benefit from Global Radio’s Make Some Noise and will help raise funds to help children with brain tumours reach their full potential. Carole Hughes, Founder of Anna’s Hope said “Money raised from the campaign will fund the Anna’s Hope Occupational Therapist for at least 6 months. This support will  not only make a huge difference to our fundraising but also raise awareness of the much needed support children with brain tumours need.”

On October 8th, Global will unite its audiences and its friends from the worlds of media and entertainment to make some noise and raise money for disadvantaged youngsters. Anna’s Hope has been selected as a beneficiary, and will receive a grant as well as an opportunity to tell its story on the radio.

Emma Bradley, director, Global’s Make Some Noise, said: “Twenty-three million people tune in to our radio stations every week and tens of millions more watch our TV channels and visit our digital platforms. This puts us in an incredible position. We set up Global’s Make Some Noise to help charities that would otherwise struggle to reach people. By giving them a voice on our radio stations and our other platforms, they can talk to tens of millions of people and raise money to help disadvantaged youngsters right across the UK.”
“We’re so pleased to be supporting Anna’s Hope as part of our 2015 campaign and that we can help give Anna’s Hope a voice and reach millions of people, raising awareness and as much money as we can through this year’s campaign.”

Global’s Make Some Noise was created by Global, the media & entertainment group. Global is home to the country’s most loved commercial radio brands Capital, Capital Xtra, Heart, Radio X, Classic FM, LBC, Smooth, Smooth Extra and Gold. Together these brands reach 23 million people every week on the radio, 10 million unique users every month on Global’s digital platforms and six million people on Global’s social media channels.

Happy Day and Smiles all round at 1st Anniversary of Brainbow supporting children with brain tumours.

photo 4-1

It was a really special day on the 10th of September at the 1st Anniversary event of Brainbow, a pioneering new service providing neuro-rehabilitation for children with brain tumours. The first of its kind in the UK, this partnership between Anna’s Hope , Camille’s Appeal, Tom’s Trust and Cambridge University Hospitals, one year on is making a real difference and already has helped 64 children. As the sun shIned it was great to see the children, parents, the staff including the Anna’s Hope Therapy team and guests from the charities celebrating and looking forward to the future.

On days like today you are reminded that all the hard work fundraising is really worth it.

KEEP SMILING

So proud to be part of BRAINBOW, the UK’s first rehabilitation service for children with brain tumours.

Brainbow - Anna's Hope Trustees
Tuesday 10th September marked the culmination of seven years’ fundraising and the exciting beginning of a pioneering new service that will contribute and make a positive difference to the lives of children with brain tumours. The new service, called ‘Brainbow’ will be the first in the country.
Brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer of children in the UK and for those who survive their lives can be severely limited.
Following the funding of the ‘Anna’s Hope Specialist Nurse’ at Addenbrooke’s we are delighted to continue our collaboration with the hospital by supporting the Brainbow service through the funding of the ‘Anna’s Hope Therapy team’ which includes a physiotherapist, speech and language therapist and an occupational therapist.
Anna’s Hope is also delighted to be partnering with Camille’s Appeal and Tom’s Trust; without them Brainbow would not be possible and we look forward to the service helping more children with brain tumours reach their full potential.
Brainbow will provide a comprehensive approach to rehabilitation, integrated alongside standard clinical care for children with brain tumours, something that was not possible before. A coordinated, specialist neuro-rehabilitation assessment will include physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy and clinical psychology.
Brainbow will support children under 16 already being treated for brain tumours at Addenbrooke’s and those who will be newly-diagnosed from October 2013.
Dr Amos Burke, consultant paediatric oncologist at Addenbrooke’s, said: “By launching Brainbow we will be able to provide a more standardised and holistic care package to children with brain tumours in the region. We are very grateful for the support from these three charities and we hope we can develop the service further in the future.”
It will also provide valuable evidence to support further work on the impact of neuro-rehabilitation on outcomes for children, an area of provision that is still in its infancy.
Brainbow will be based at Addenbrooke’s, which is the regional centre for the treatment of children with brain and spinal cancers.
We have still so much more to do and Anna’s Hope would like to thank all our volunteers and all those who have supported us so far. We also wish the Brainbow service every success in helping more children with brain tumours get much needed rehabilitation.
